Bio4MatPro
Competence Center for the Biological Transformation of Material Science and Production Technology
In our unique network comprising 50 partners from industry and science,
we are actively working on 23 research and development projects.
Our shared goal is the biological transformation of key industries
such as textiles, chemicals, medical technology and consumer goods as well as lightweight construction.
Eight of these pioneering projects are led by our industry partners,
which ensures collaborative and application-oriented research.
We are committed to the sustainable use of resources and innovative approaches.
By shifting from fossil-based commodities to local, renewable raw materials
we aim to develop a resource-efficient bioeconomy model region.
In the structural change (Strukturwandel) of the former Rhenish Mining Area, Bio4MatPro plays a decisive role,
not only by creating products in an ecologically and economically sustainable way,
but also by developing new product concepts and production technologies.
Our main focus:
Our work is structured into three overarching focus areas:

From Renewable Raw Materials to Recyclables

Fundamental BoostLabs for Future Technologies
