Kickoff event for the BMBF research network "Modellregion Bioökonomie im Rheinischen Revier"
The kickoff event for the research consortium "Modellregion Bioökonomie im Rheinischen Revier" took place on March 31, 2022, at Indemann in the district of Düren.
Over the next five years, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will use funds from the Structural Strengthening Act to support research and innovation aimed at establishing a model region for the bioeconomy in the Rhineland Mining Region.
In the context of sustainable structural change, innovative value chains and business models are to emerge in the Rhineland Mining Region that will drive the creation of new, future-oriented jobs. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is therefore investing 72 million euros in the first funding phase of the research consortium "Modellregion Bioökonomie im Rheinischen Revier".
Among the funded projects are the two flagship initiatives, the Kompetenzzentrum Bio4MatPro and the Innovationscluster BioökonomieREVIER, which are providing clear impetus for transformative development. At the same time, the accompanying project "Bioökonomie Verstehen.Verbinden.Unterstützen" is investigating the factors necessary for a successful transformation process.
In total, more than 60 partners from academia and industry are involved in realizing this vision.
